This Elegant takedown bowie blends class with brawn
A .25 in W2 blade nicely tapers to a balancing beveled clip, accentuating the aggressive reinforced point. W2 is among the best blades for a Hamon, a hardening line popularized in Japanese weapons. Its achieved by applying a refractory clay on the spine and flats of the blade, insulating it from heat during hardening. This results in a harder edge and more ductile spine, improving toughness without compromising the hardness of the edge
The fittings are matching mosaic damascus, along with copper spacers flanking a coffin shaped carbon fiber frame handle. the carbon fiber frame is flanked with copper sheet as well, blending the hard shimmering carbon grey with the gorgeous red-brown of copper.
This bowie is a takedown, meaning it is not permanently assembled. The pommel nut can be removed so parts, especially the bare copper, can be refinished in the future.
This blade is an evolutionary step to arriving at my standardized V44 bowie.
